Our hospital carried out publicity and consultation activities on the theme of "Prevention of Birth Defects and Scientific Healthy Parenthood".
On 12 September 2023, Birth Defects Prevention Day was observed. The theme of the activity is preventing birth defects and scientific healthy pregnancy. At the same time, September is also the month of propaganda for the National Healthy Lifestyle Action in Shandong Province. In the morning of that day, the Medical Department of the hospital combined with the activity of ‘Five Deliveries, Five Inputs and Five Enhancements’, combined with Obstetrics, Obstetrics and Neonatal Swimming Room to carry out free clinic activities in the town of Liugaizi, to publicise and popularise the knowledge of prevention of birth defects, to advocate the concept of scientific prevention, and to improve the public's eugenic awareness and health literacy. The campaign promoted the knowledge of birth defects prevention, advocated the concept of scientific prevention, and improved the public's eugenic awareness and health literacy.
The activities were carried out by hanging banners, distributing scientific information, measuring blood pressure and providing free consultation. Obstetrics and gynaecology medical staff provided face-to-face consultation and exchanges around the key stages of pre-marriage, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and newborn, and distributed on-site publicity materials on the prevention of birth defects, and carried out eugenics and euthanasia propaganda.
Birth defects are the main cause of early miscarriage, stillbirth, perinatal death, infant death and congenital disabilities, to promote the scientific concept of birth defects prevention and treatment, advocate that people of the appropriate age to take the initiative to learn and master the knowledge of birth defects prevention, enhance the awareness and ability to prevent, develop a healthy lifestyle, choose the best age for childbearing, and actively give birth to a healthy new life.
