The CT room was established in July 1992; in August 1992, the first CT in our hospital, the MAXII-320 whole-body scanner made by CE Company of the U.S.A., was put into clinical use; in August 1999, we introduced the whole-body spiral CT scanner made by Hitachi Company, RADIX-TURBO (turbine). In March 2005, the hospital introduced a 16-slice spiral CT machine made by CE Corporation of the U.S.A. In December 2013, the hospital introduced the world's top level CT product, the world's first spectral CT - GE Gemstone Spectral CT.
Gemstone Spectrum CT has created a brand new field of CT spectral imaging: it creatively adopts gemstones as the raw material of the detector, thus leading a comprehensive revolution in a series of core technologies of the CT imaging chain, including the bulb tube, high-voltage generator, detector, imaging principle and reconstruction algorithm, and creating a brand new field of CT molecular imaging! The creative use of gemstones as the detector material, due to its physical properties, substantially improves the image quality, opens up a new field of energy application, and breaks through the 3 major limits of CT development and application:
Microscopic CT-Discovering foci that cannot be found by conventional CT: Different from the imaging principle of conventional CT, Gemstone CT adopts 101 single-photon imaging, which introduces the concept of multi-parameter imaging in CT for the first time and breaks the tradition, creating a new era of energy spectrum imaging, which can discover foci that cannot be found by conventional CT, and increase the detection rate of early-stage tumours by 30%.
Pathology CT - the first to enter the field of molecular spectroscopic imaging: it can identify the composition of substances and histological analysis: such as the analysis of the origin of lesions, the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant tumours, the analysis of the composition of different substances and the analysis of the composition of plaques; and the quantitative analysis of substances: the precise analysis of the concentration of substances can be as accurate as 0.05mg/ml.
Green CT - the green and safe CT in the industry: verified by more than 100,000 clinical records worldwide: in cardiac examination, the dose can be reduced by more than 90%, and in whole-body application, the dose can be reduced by more than 50%, which is the safest CT in the world at present, and it is regarded as the first choice of the high-end people for medical check-ups both in Beijing and Shanghai.
In actual use, clinical experts believe that Gem CT has very distinctive features:
1. Jewel Spectrum CT is equipped with the world's most advanced spectral imaging function, which is the first to bring CT into the age of spectral imaging, capable of quantitative and qualitative analysis of tissues.
2. Jewel Spectrum CT can achieve ‘Green CT’ examination, using ultra-low radiation X-ray dose; to ensure the safety and reliability of the examinee. CT room has developed into a new discipline integrating diagnosis and treatment, scientific research and teaching, and possessing large-scale modern imported equipments. For many years, the department has been responsible for the teaching of Taishan Medical College and other colleges and universities, and has been designated as the training base for Shandong Province's ‘360 Project’ and ‘1127 Project’.
There are 14 doctors and technicians in CT room. There are 3 deputy chief physicians, 7 attending physicians and 4 junior doctors (technicians). Many people went to the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (301 Hospital), Beijing Friendship Hospital, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Tianjin TEDA International Cardiovascular Disease Hospital, Shandong Provincial Hospital and other provincial-level hospitals for further training and learning, and introduced and carried out 12 new technologies, and won the third prize for scientific and technological progress in Liaocheng City, 6; Taishan Medical College, 2 third prize for scientific and technological progress, and the hospital scientific and technological progress awards, 10. He has published more than 100 papers in magazines above the provincial level and 12 imaging monographs.
Work scope of CT room
1、Chest: diagnosis of small foci in lungs, pulmonary atelectasis and pleural lesions, diffuse lesions in lungs, haemoptysis and emphysema, etc., judgement of tumour staging, identification of vascular and non-vascular lesions, post-traumatic changes.
Head and neck: acute brain injury, cerebrovascular accident (e.g. cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral embolism), brain tumour, cerebral parasitosis, encephalitis and meningitis, sinus lesions, pharyngeal and throat tumours, neck lesions.
3、Abdomen: abdominal trauma, lesions of substantial organs, tumourous lesions and so on. Preoperative staging of malignant tumour and recurrence and metastasis after surgery.
4、Check for systemic bone and joint lesions.
5、Checking of systemic macrovascular lesions and perfusion imaging of various organs.
6、Special imaging examination.
7, Energy spectrum imaging.

9、Low dose CT screening for early lung cancer.
10, CT-guided tumour biopsy pathology in various parts of the body.
11, CT-guided minimally invasive interventional tumour ablation therapy: CT-guided ablation needle penetrates into the tumour and uses high temperature to kill the cancer cells, which is characterized by minimally invasive, safe, fast recovery and good efficacy; it can achieve the effect of eradication of early malignant tumours; and it can be used as palliative therapy or tumour reduction therapy for middle and late-stage tumours, which can reduce the tumour load of the patients and improve the quality of life. It is suitable for primary lung cancer, lung metastatic cancer, primary liver cancer, liver metastatic cancer, kidney cancer, bone metastatic cancer and so on.
