The Second People's Hospital of Liaocheng City, located in Linqing City, Shandong Province, has a history of 136 years since it was founded in 1886, and has now developed into a Grade 3A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and rehabilitation, with advanced equipments and reasonable personnel echelon.

  The Key Laboratory of Gout Prevention and Management of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital was established in 2000, and in September 2021, it was successfully established as the Key Laboratory of Gout Prevention and Management of Liaocheng City. The Key Laboratory of Gout Prevention and Management of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital is a comprehensive experimental platform integrating clinical management, social face education and laboratory scientific research and monitoring, and the main laboratory relies on the biochemical laboratory, rheumatology and immunology laboratory, and energy spectrum CT and ultrasound department of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital, etc., and has a series of labs such as standard laboratory operating table, electronic balance, centrifuge, oscillator, refrigerator, ultra-low temperature refrigerator, electrophoresis instrument, musculoskeletal ultrasound and so on. The laboratory is equipped with a series of laboratory equipment such as standard laboratory operating table, electronic balance, centrifuge, oscillator, refrigerator, ultra-low temperature refrigerator, electrophoresis instrument, musculoskeletal ultrasound, etc. Meanwhile, the main laboratory can detect blood uric acid, uric acid, urate crystals, atypical gouty arthritis ultrasonography and energy spectrum CT scanning, etc., which provides guarantee for diagnosis and treatment. Relying on the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, the laboratory actively carries out gouty arthritis patient education, goes out of the hospital and towards the social surface to publicize the knowledge of preventing gout, and conducts online and offline health education more than 10-20 times a year.

  There are 8 staffs in the laboratory, all of them have obtained master's degree in medicine, the director of rheumatology and immunology department and laboratory, Chen Meipu, female, chief physician, master's degree in medicine, part-time professor of Binzhou Medical College and Taishan Medical College, founded the rheumatology and immunology department of the hospital in August 2000, and was the first one to carry out the technology of arthrocentesis treatment in the provincial cavity and set up the rheumatology laboratory at the same time, which led to the establishment of immunity laboratory in the hospital gradually. He has published more than 30 papers and edited many books, and has been awarded 5 scientific and technological progress prizes at local and municipal levels, and 8 scientific and technological progress prizes in the hospital. He is currently a member of Shandong Medical Association Rheumatology Branch, a standing member of Shandong Physicians Association Rheumatology and Immunology Physicians Branch, a standing member of Shandong Health Management Association Rheumatology, a standing member of Shandong Immunology Association Rheumatology and Immunology, a standing member of Shandong Rheumatology and Immunology Specialty Union, and the vice chairman of Liaocheng City Medical Association Rheumatology Branch, etc. He has been working in the Department of Immunology since 2020.

  Since 2020, large-scale volunteer clinics, popularization of science, lectures, etc. have been held annually in the department, the hospital, the community, parks and other public places to carry out the social face of gout prevention and management, aiming at preventing gout, a controllable disease, at the pre-hospital stage, reducing the prevalence rate, preventing the emergence of serious complications, and reducing the burden of medical care on the people. 2020-2022 consecutively held Liaocheng City Continuing Medical Education Program, Rheumatic Disease Progress Study Class”, to carry out special lectures for grass-roots physicians, and to penetrate the early diagnosis and treatment of gout into the grassroots. Since the establishment of the laboratory, a number of testing programs have been gradually carried out. Utilizing the relevant scientific research conditions of the laboratory, the laboratory has declared and completed 4 provincial and municipal scientific research achievements, and published 7 articles in the domestic scientific and technological core journals. In the past three years, the laboratory has declared and completed three provincial and municipal scientific research projects.

  The Key Laboratory of Gout Prevention and Management of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital, under the perfect work management and quality control system, has gradually built up a provincial-level laboratory and physician team, and relying on the municipal key disciplines of Rheumatology and Immunology as a working platform, the implementation of the integrated development of medicine, teaching, research and publicity, to promote the rapid and sustainable development of the laboratory, and to do its part in the management of the health of the people on the one side.
