Specialist nurses in acute and critical illnesses play a vital role in the rescue and treatment of patients with acute and critical illnesses, specialist nurses need to have highly sophisticated monitoring technology, resuscitation measures and have a strong ability to cooperate with the resuscitation, clinical thinking ability,

     Emergency response ability, rational analysis ability, communication ability, in order to adapt to the development of acute and critical care nursing, cultivate the specialist nursing ability of acute and critical care nurses, strengthen the establishment of clinical thinking of nurses, improve the comprehensive ability in the process of rescue and treatment of patients with acute and critical illnesses, and provide patients with comprehensive, systematic, professional and high-quality nursing services, in August 2020, the Department of Nursing organised a 4-day specialist training course. This time, a total of 73 nursing staff, including emergency, ICU, PICU and mobile nurse pool, were intensively trained through theoretical lectures, operational skills training, workshops and group discussions.

     I. Emphasis on professionalism and consolidation of foundation

     On 10th and 17th of August, a two-day course was held, in which physicians and head nurses of acute and critical care and senior nurses gave lectures respectively from the knowledge related to hospital sensation, the cooperation between doctors and nurses in resuscitation, the care of trauma patients, the identification of acute and critical illnesses of nurses, the establishment of nurses' clinical thinking and the interpretation of blood gas analysis, and the theoretical lectures were in-depth, and the nurses were guided to establish the clinical thinking of acute and critical illnesses, by starting from the cases that happened around them and gradually dissecting the cases.      Divergent thinking, broaden the mind

     On the morning of 24th and 28th August, senior nurses of acute and critical illnesses gave lectures on nursing check-ups. Through the use of mind maps and the method of illustration, the unseen and unfathomable thinking structure was clearly presented in front of the eyes, and the boring clinical nursing check-ups were made lively and interesting, and portable to memorise. At the same time through the form of workshop, hosted by the nursing department Zhou Ailing teacher, issued typical cases, group discussion and analysis, writing mind map, group evaluation, the winning group will be rewarded.

     Third, skills operation, standardised practice

     On the afternoon of 24th and 28th August, the first aid techniques such as application of oropharyngeal airway, chest physiotherapy, subacoustic suction, application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation machine, electrocardiographic monitoring and Heimlich maneuver, etc., were centrally trained. Through centralised operation training, the team became familiar with the common operation skills of acute and critical illnesses as well as the process, and improved the standardization of the clinical rescue treatment.

     Fourth, meticulous assessment, comprehensive improvement

     In the afternoon of 3 and 4 September, in order to evaluate the effect of training, the content learned based on the nursing staff shifts the theoretical and operational assessment, through the E-answer and case study of mind mapping, deepening the theoretical foundations of the nursing operational skills through the examination of the form of examination station, by the Department of Nursing Teachers as a judge, the use of lots on the operation of a unified assessment. After a fair, impartial, objective, orderly and organised assessment, a qualification certificate will be issued to those who have passed the assessment.

     Through the standardised training and assessment of acute and critical care nurses, we have made use of novel and rich training forms to comprehensively evaluate the competence of nursing personnel, effectively improve the core competence of nurses in acute and critical care, enhance the overall quality of nurses, improve the quality and safety of nursing care, provide high-quality nursing personnel for the rescue and treatment of patients with acute and critical conditions in the hospital, increase the success rate of acute and critical care and reduce the risk of adverse events and complications in nursing care. Adverse events and the incidence of nursing complications, help to improve the satisfaction of patients and their families, more conducive to the complexity of the disease, critical condition, across multiple disciplines of emergency care quality improvement.
