The Heimlich Maneuver is also known as the “Embrace of Life” because the rescuer holds the rescued person from behind. Learning this “embrace of life” method is, to a certain extent, grasping life. Mastering the related skills and knowledge can help us better protect ourselves and others and avoid accidents and injuries. On January 9, Liaocheng City No.2 Hospital Integrated Surgical Nursing Team went to Linqing Spring Kindergarten and carried out an on-site skills training and actual operation of Heimlich Maneuver for the teachers and students.

Nurse Yang Yunxia carefully made the courseware and told the children how to operate the Heimlich maneuver correctly in a graphic and illustrative way. Nurse practitioners Peng Yalei and Wang Qi demonstrated the specific operation method for the children.

When the patient is more than one year old child or adult, if the patient is conscious and can stand, first let the patient stand, the rescuer stands behind the patient, children are shorter, the rescuer can kneel behind them, and then the rescuer of a leg in front of the patient's two legs between the lunge, and the other leg is straight, arms around the patient's waist, so that his upper body forward. Finally, the rescuer makes a fist with one hand and puts the eye of the fist on the patient's umbilicus above the two horizontal fingers, wraps the other hand around the fist, and continuously, quickly and forcefully impacts the patient's upper back until the foreign body is spit out. If the patient is unconscious or standing position is not convenient to rescue, let the patient lie flat, first open the patient's airway, then the rescuer riding across the outside of the patient's thighs, one hand with the root of the palm to press the umbilicus on the two transverse fingers of the part of the two palms overlap the cross, continuous, rapid, forceful impact to the patient's back. The upper part of the patient's body should be impacted until the foreign body is discharged.

When one's airway is blocked by a foreign body and no one is around the patient can perform self-rescue, one hand clenches a fist, the eye of the fist is placed on the umbilicus two. Cross fingers above, the other hand wrapped around the fist, both hands rapid impact, inward and upward pressure on their own abdomen, repeated rhythmically and forcefully. Or slightly bent over, leaning on a fixed object. (such as the edge of the table, the back of the chair, handrail railing, etc.), with the edge of the object compression of their upper abdomen, rapid upward impact, repeat the above operation, until the foreign body discharged.

Through the training, not only let everyone appreciate the necessity and importance of mastering first aid knowledge and skills, and further improve everyone's safety awareness, but also enhance the teachers' ability to deal with emergencies, for the healthy growth of every child to escort.
