The Department of Ophthalmology of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital was established in the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), which is the earliest independent department among the hospitals in the city and one of the earliest departments to realize surgical microscopy, and enjoys a high reputation in the city and the surrounding areas. Existing clinical subspecialties: corneal and ocular surface diseases, cataract, glaucoma, vitreoretinal diseases, pediatric ophthalmology, refractive surgery and optometry. At present, the department has established consultation and surgical collaboration with Beijing Tongren Hospital, General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (301 Hospital), Ophthalmology Hospital of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ophthalmology Hospital of Shandong First Medical University, Jinan Ophthalmology Hospital and other famous ophthalmology departments in China.

The Department of Ophthalmology has 18 beds, with 2 chief physicians, 1 deputy chief physician, 1 attending physician, 5 residents, 2 technicians, including 3 master's degree holders. The work carried out basically covers all kinds of work that can be carried out by the ophthalmology department of prefecture-level hospitals. Such as: ultrasonic emulsification cataract removal and artificial lens implantation; various anti-glaucoma surgeries; pterygium excision and corneal rim stem cell transplantation; strabismus correction; orbital tumor removal surgery; ptosis correction; lacrimal duct anastomosis; endoscopic nasal lacrimal sac anastomosis; vitrectomy; vitreous injection of anti-VEGF medication; various types of excimer laser keratoconus surgery and keratoplasty.
