The Department of Medical Oncology of the Second People's Hospital of Liaocheng City is a comprehensive treatment department integrating tumour chemotherapy, interventional therapy, immunotherapy and palliative rehabilitation therapy, with a strong sense of comprehensive treatment and standardized treatment of tumours in accordance with the conclusions of evidence-based medicine, whose methods and protocols are in line with the international standards, which has created favourable conditions of survival and improved the quality of life for many patients.

     The department has two senior physicians, four attending physicians, three residents, including eight master's degree graduates. They have furthered their studies in well-known medical institutions in China, published more than 40 papers in domestic journals, and won the municipal scientific and technological progress awards. The department is the standardised diagnosis and treatment ward for cancer in Shandong Province, the demonstration ward for standardised diagnosis and treatment of cancer pain in Shandong Province, the key oncology speciality in Liaocheng City, and the alliance unit of minimally invasive ablation treatment for lung nodules in Shandong Provincial Hospital. It has also established long-term collaboration with Shandong Provincial Hospital and Shandong Cancer Hospital to develop personalised treatment plans, making the tumour treatment more professional, precise and cost reasonable. In addition, the department has also obtained the qualification of National Drug Clinical Trial Institution, with rich experience in temporary trial projects, and has undertaken a number of drug clinical trial projects, so that patients with financial difficulties also receive the latest along the therapeutic drugs, and so that the latest drugs benefit more patients.

     The speciality treatments are now carried out:

     Tumour chemotherapy: standard pre-operative neoadjuvant chemotherapy, post-operative adjuvant chemotherapy.

      Intracorporeal perfusion chemotherapy: puncture and drainage of malignant pleural fluid and ascites, perfusion of chemotherapy and immunotherapy drugs to control malignant intracavitary fluid.

      Molecular targeting and immunotherapy: individualised treatment with genetic monitoring.

     PICC cannulation: avoiding the damage of drugs to peripheral veins and the pain of daily puncture.

     Cancer pain treatment: assessing cancer pain patients, choosing drugs reasonably, providing effective analgesia and improving patients' survival.

     Minimally invasive treatment of tumours: microwave ablation, vascular intervention and embolisation chemotherapy for tumours.

     Hospice care: medical and nursing staff uphold the humanistic, people-oriented concept, and actively carry out hospice care to relieve the pain of patients and their families and improve the quality of life of patients.
