The Department of Neurology of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital of Shandong Province was founded in 1992, and then successively set up the second ward of Neurology in March 2004, the third ward of Neurology in February 2012, and the Department of Neurology was relocated to Huamei Hospital District in May 2016, and set up the main ward of Neurology and the fifth ward of Neurology, with a total of 240 beds open. The hospital is equipped with advanced equipments such as 3.0T MRI, CT machine, EEG machine, transcranial Doppler, cervical vascular ultrasound, electromyography and evoked potentials instrument, bone densitometry, vestibular function examination and so on. Each ward is equipped with life monitor, medical ice blanket, medical ice cap, electrocardiograph, intermediate frequency therapeutic instrument, cerebral reflex therapeutic instrument, anti-embolism pump, micro-injector pump, blood glucose meter, infusion pump, insulin pump and other equipments, which provide convenient conditions for the diagnosis and treatment of the patients, as well as their rescue and rehabilitation.
There are 48 physicians, including 10 chief physicians, 12 deputy chief physicians, 3 master's degree supervisors, 20 doctoral and master's degree holders.
The department has set up subspecialties such as cerebrovascular disease, neurointervention, neurorehabilitation, vertigo, headache, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, cognitive disorders, etc., and opened special clinics for cerebrovascular disease, vertigo, headache, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, cognitive disorders as well as clinics of renowned specialists of the Department of Neurology. The hospital attaches great importance to the development of the Department of Neurology, and has established a green channel for emergency treatment of cerebrovascular disease and a system for the rescue and treatment of cerebrovascular disease. The department also attaches great importance to the development of the discipline, and has carried out the individualised standardised treatment of cerebrovascular disease, early rehabilitation of cerebrovascular disease, intravenous thrombolysis and interventional thrombolysis for acute cerebral infarction, as well as new technologies such as total cerebral angiography, angioplasty for stenosis of intra- and extracranial arteries and stenting, etc., and has entered into the domestic advanced ranks in its various work. In 2011, the hospital was awarded the first batch of ‘Stroke Screening Bases’ by the Ministry of Health, and in October 2018, it passed the on-site assessment of ‘Advanced Stroke Centre’ with excellent results, which has brought the treatment of acute ischemic stroke in our hospital to a new level. In November 2020, the hospital was awarded the title of ‘Four-star Advanced Stroke Centre’ by the Brain Prevention Committee of the National Health Commission.
Over the past 10 years, a number of outstanding young doctors have been sent to the Royal Free Hospital in London, Xuanwu Hospital in Beijing, Tiantan Hospital in Beijing, Peking University Hospital, 301 Hospital in Beijing, General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command, China Rehabilitation Research Centre, Qilu Hospital in Shandong, Shandong Provincial Hospital, and other famous hospitals at home and abroad for further training and learning. In recent years, he has published several SCI articles and more than 100 professional papers in Chinese series of magazines and professional journals, such as Chinese Journal of Neurology, Clinical Neurology, Journal of Physician's Advancement, Stroke and Neurological Diseases. She has edited and published more than 20 clinical monographs and nearly 30 scientific research achievements, won more than 10 second and third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Liaocheng City, and applied for more than 20 national patents.
As a regional base hospital for stroke screening and prevention and a national advanced stroke centre, our hospital has been shouldering the heavy responsibility of stroke prevention and treatment in the surrounding areas. According to the spirit of the National Health Commission, provinces and cities and other higher-level documents, our hospital has joined hands with the health units in the surrounding counties to set up a specialist alliance of stroke centres with the construction of neurological disease disciplines as its content, and regularly provides member units with business and technical training, talent cultivation, and improves the ability to save and treat the major diseases of the nervous system as well as the level of comprehensive prevention and treatment, and endeavours to build a network system for the rescue and treatment of stroke with the integration of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
