The Department of Obstetrics of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital is a tertiary discipline separated from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2003, and is a key department of the hospital. With the continuous development and growth of the hospital, and under the leadership of experts of the older generation, and through the hard work of generations, the level of medical treatment, teaching and scientific research is constantly improving, and it has been developed into a modern medical base that integrates prevention, perinatal health care, mother and child missionary service, clinic, teaching and scientific research. With 100 beds and more than 100 medical and nursing staff with rich clinical experience, the hospital is equipped with Obstetrics Ward I, Obstetrics Ward II, delivery room, LDR integrated delivery room, newborn swimming room, prenatal care, postnatal rehabilitation clinic, etc. It is a ‘Baby Friendly Hospital’ issued by the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, it is also a member unit of Shandong Provincial Hospital and Shandong Qilu Hospital Maternal Emergency and Critical Care Specialty Union, with strong technical strength and rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critical illnesses, such as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, vomiting in pregnancy, placenta praevia, placenta previa, diabetes mellitus in pregnancy, intrahepatic cholestasis in pregnancy, pregnancy combined with medical and surgical disorders, various kinds of obstructed labour, obstetric haemorrhage, and retained placenta, and so on. In January 2018, our hospital passed the acceptance to become Liaocheng City Municipal Maternal and Neonatal Emergency and Critical Care Centre, and in November 2021, our hospital was named as a municipal maternity health care specialty, undertaking rescue and treatment, consultation and referral of critically ill mothers under the jurisdiction, as well as carrying out technical guidance and bidirectional collaboration for lower-level rescue centres.The successful rescue of a patient with amniotic fluid embolism and cardiac arrest in July 2021 This marks a new level in the hospital's ability to treat women with acute and severe maternal illnesses.
